Our Commitment to Ethical Research

Protecting Research Participants

Wildfires and floods are happening more often with increasing intensity. What might we learn from youth in the child welfare system - society's most vulnerable - who have lived through a disaster, to teach us all about resilience in our changing world? We are committed to conducting ethical research that prioritizes the well-being and rights of all research participants. Our goal is to ensure that the voices of vulnerable populations are heard and respected.

Ethical Guidelines for Research

In our research endeavors, we adhere to strict ethical guidelines to uphold the integrity and confidentiality of the data collected. Our ethical framework encompasses the principles of beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, and justice. We recognize the importance of obtaining informed consent and maintaining the anonymity of participants to safeguard their privacy and dignity.

Ensuring Research Integrity

Our commitment extends to maintaining research integrity by addressing issues such as data management, conflicts of interest, and compliance with regulatory standards. We strive to promote transparency and accountability in all stages of the research process. To delve deeper into our ethical research practices, explore our comprehensive guide on 'Research Ethics and Participant Protection'.

I am based in Nelson, BC, the traditional territory of the Sinixt, and modern home to the Sylix and Ktunaxa who have lived in harmony with this beautiful place long before my arrival. I am grateful for the wilderness and wild places.
